STIR
Authentication and verification of caller identities in accordance with legal requirements
With STIR support (Secure Telephony Identity Revisited), anynode provides a secure and compliant solution for operators in the United States and Canada who handle large volumes of inbound and outbound SIP calls. SIP and Managed Service Providers in particular, including those delivering their services via Azure or similar platforms, benefit from the ability to reliably sign and verify caller identities — a crucial step in meeting the strict regulatory requirements of the FCC and Canadian authorities.

Incoming calls from various PBX systems are routed through anynode, where the STIR framework creates and signs a JWT token. An attestation level (A, B, or C) is assigned to indicate the trust level of the caller’s identity. The signed token is inserted into the SIP Identity header and transmitted to the hosted trunking provider, allowing the recipient to recognize the call as verified.

Automated Signing and Attestation for Maximum Transparency
anynode automatically signs all outbound calls with a digital identity and adds the STIR Identity Header, enabling providers to operate their trunks in full regulatory compliance. At the same time, the solution allows efficient verification of inbound calls from diverse networks: transmitted identities are analyzed and evaluated based on an attestation level (A, B, or C). This makes it easy to determine whether a call is authentic or potentially manipulated — a key advantage for providers handling thousands of calls per day and requiring reliable filtering mechanisms.
Flexible Licensing for Individual Provider Scenarios
STIR functionality is offered as an additional license in anynode and can be flexibly integrated into existing provider infrastructures, regardless of whether the platform is primarily used for signing outbound calls or verifying inbound connections.
