Performance

More power from existing hardware through optimized multi-core utilization.

anynode 4.14 uses existing hardware significantly more efficiently. Thanks to optimized multi-core scaling, additional CPU cores are utilized more effectively, enabling up to 2,000 simultaneous sessions on the same infrastructure with a 32-core system. Smaller installations with 200 to 400 sessions also benefit from higher resource efficiency.

The software adapts optimally to different CPU architectures and achieves noticeable performance gains depending on the system—especially on Debian and Ubuntu, but also on Windows Server, Proxmox, Hyper-V, Azure, and Google Cloud. Only AWS shows smaller improvements.

Performance increases with the number of cores: 16 cores offer around 50% more sessions than 8 cores, and 32 cores provide up to 50% more than 16. Together with the Request Router introduced in version 4.12, this enables the implementation of highly available, scalable systems with added redundancy for production environments.

Features at a glance

  • More efficient hardware utilization: Optimized multi-core scaling for better use of additional CPU cores
  • Higher capacity: Up to 2,000 simultaneous sessions in standard transcoding mode on a modern 32-core system
  • Broad benefits: Significantly increased performance even for smaller installations with 200–400 sessions
  • Flexible deployment options: Ideal for compact setups and carrier environments with high demands on stability and performance
  • Optimized architecture support: Higher efficiency on many-core systems with lower clock frequencies
  • System-dependent performance gains: Best results on Debian & Ubuntu; strong improvements on Windows Server, Proxmox, Hyper-V, Azure, and Google Cloud; limited gains on AWS
  • Scalable performance: +50% sessions with 16 instead of 8 cores, and another +50% with 32 instead of 16 cores
  • Cost-efficient operation: Large installations with several thousand sessions achievable on standard hardware
  • Enhanced high availability: Combined with the Request Router (since version 4.12), a highly available, scalable, and fail-safe system architecture can be built
